The first time I saw her, my head spun, maybe the alcohol had something to do with it. Or maybe it was magic. She was beautiful, that night. Almost an angel. And the music sung through my soul as the lights dizzied.

It was a moment.

Or maybe time had changed the memory, or the memory had changed time. Did they have discos a hundred years back ? I seem to doubt that. Does it matter ? Really matter ?

When our eyes first met, I could feel the air breathe, I quickly turned away, lest she saw my stare. And maybe she did, so she walked toward me.

I looked up, and there she was, casting a shadow upon me, a rainbow of lights spiralling behind her. And she smiled, it came easy to her lips, which were red, and luscious. Her eyes were large and wonderfully round, and they, too, were smiling, and luscious.

I think she said something, but I didn’t hear, as she took a seat beside me. There was a humming in my brain, swimming in cocktail is never a very good idea. Entertaining, yes, but not a good idea, like suicide. I think my brow furrowed, because she smiled again, and repeated whatever it was she first said, I didn’t hear her this time, either.

Her voice was a beautiful kaleidoscope of sound; light, and wonderfully happy. And she smiled again.

I murmured a reply, I think a part of me was actually functioning, that night, but it certainly wasn’t my brain, probably my lust. Charm and all that.

She kissed me. Whatever I said, it bloody worked.

And she stood up. And walked away.

I panicked, I could feel a part of me slipping, with her as she threaded her way through the crowd.

I said, in a voice so soft I did not hear…

“Will I never see you again ?”

And I think, almost, that I cried.

And she turned. In spite of noise and sound and light and humming air, she turned. I smiled then, a sheepish smile, a little innocence, a little relief. And she smiled at me, and my heart sang. And it sung like the wind, and it moved like my love. My new found love, my new found, precious, precious love.

And we kissed. And the world faded away.
